"The greatest asset I can bring to our community is getting your voice heard on the issues that matter most to you and your family."
I'm Amy Hemingway, ANC candidate for 4D06.
My family has thoroughly enjoyed living in Petworth, particularly in our little nook on Sherman Circle. My favorite part has been my neighbors. It's both fun and comforting to be surrounded by good people. After living in Washington, DC for 12 years, we finally feel settled!
I have felt a great sense of community, but there's room for improvement. We need more opportunities to connect, more dialogue and more inclusion, especially in light of ongoing national and international tragedies and those right here at home. That's why I want to represent our community on the ANC – to foster community, collaboratively solve problems and increase access to opportunities.
It starts with your voice. Everyone has one, but not every voice is heard. The greatest asset I can bring to our community is getting your voice heard on the issues that matter most to you and your family.
As a new mom, I, like you and many of your friends and family, am concerned for our future and the welfare of the most vulnerable among us. We're also focused on the here and now. It's both, will my child get a great education and how can I ensure the house flipping next door doesn't wake up my child – or worse? And how can I ensure my elderly parent is cared for and isn't burdened by mishandled trash collection.
By bringing our collective voice to the forefront, I will help address our biggest challenges, while also ensuring the community is aware of the opportunities afforded to us.
I hope you'll get to know me so you can vote for me on November 8. Thank you for your support!
